Market and fit

Fit is a town, not a category.

People already solve this with a tourism calendar, a library page, a hotel binder, a Facebook group, and a search. Yoocal is the single desk for that town, with two audiences on it and a host who can pay to be seen.

Fit is proven when three behaviors happen in the same town: a visitor plans on it and comes back next trip, a local uses it on an ordinary week, and a host pays for a second week. Those behaviors are the goal. They are not a measured result yet.

The painful moment

The day is blank, and the calendars disagree.

Visitor

You are in town for two nights. You do not know which list is current. You need kid-friendly at 2pm kept apart from a 9pm room. You need the printed price, or a clear “ask the organizer.”

Local

The visitor sites are priced and voiced for someone who flew in. You want the weekly thing the town actually does, including the free ones.

Host

A free storytime and a $40 tasting both need to be findable. A ticket fee is the wrong tool for the free night. You still want the Saturday people to see you.

Why these towns

Seasonal visitors, split calendars, a local who stays.

A big city already has dense event apps. A resort town and a lake town have a calendar split across a bureau, resorts, a library, and a festival, and a visitor who decides the morning of. That is the opening.

The people

Nine people in each town. Three groups.

Each live desk already names a visitor, a local, and a host. The homepage is the tool they share. The filters are how they get a different list.

What we understand

The insight that makes the company.

  1. The calendar is already public. The pain is that it is split. Gathering it is how a new town feels alive before the first host types anything in.
  2. Visitors and locals want different lists in the same town. Free, family, and community are the local product. The season, the festival, and the evening are the visitor product. One app, two jobs.
  3. The host will pay for placement in a decision that is already happening. They should not have to pay a ticket fee to exist on a free night.
  4. A lake winter and a ski winter are different products. A single national headline hides that.
  5. A town with an announced name and an empty list is a broken promise. Midway is that promise today.

How people arrive

The trip, the share, the host.

The scoreboard for fit

Park City repeat opens. A local using Free on a non-holiday week. A host order that is paid, then repeated. Until those exist, the market story is a beachhead with a full catalog, not a finished fit.
